A REPRESENTAÇÃO SOCIAL DA MULHER EM SENHORA DE JOSÉ DE ALENCAR

Abstract

O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a representação social da mulher no século XIX em Senhora de José de Alencar, levando em consideração as questões sociais que se destacavam na sociedade carioca, tal como representada no romance. Nota-se que o romance, apesar de ser uma história ficcional, apresenta alguns aspectos que se assemelham à realidade. Como, por exemplo, as condições e vivências da mulher, a desigualdade social, o amor romântico na educação das mulheres burguesas, o casamento por interesse etc. O método de pesquisa utilizado foi a revisão bibliográfica, qualitativa, com a releitura do romance e leituras de artigos científicos e livros de autores que contribuíram para este estudo. Um desses autores é Antonio Candido (2006), que teve grande valia com suas obras, que ajudaram a fazer a relação entre literatura e sociedade, e também sobre a importância da critica literária que opina e analisa os dados internos da obra para depois relacionar com meio social. Já a autora Maria Ângela D`Incao (2004) contribuiu em mostrar a vida das mulheres ricas e burguesas no século XIX, sobre o papel da mulher de serem boas mães e esposas cuidadoras dos filhos e do lar. Os demais autores, Borges (2012), Drummond (2014), Aguiar e Costa (2011), ajudaram com suas ideias a respeito do romance e as vidas dos personagens, principalmente as atitudes deles. Concluímos, com este artigo, que o autor faz uma critica ao casamento por conveniência e também à educação romântica das mulheres._________________________________________________________________________________ This article aims to analyze the social representation of women in the 19th century in Senhora by José de Alencar, taking into account the social issues that stood out in Rio society, as represented in the novel. Note that the novel, despite being a fictional story, has some aspects that resemble reality. Such as, for example, the conditions and experiences of women, social inequality, romantic love in the education of bourgeois women, marriage for interest, etc. The research method used was a bibliographic, qualitative review, with a re- reading of the novel and readings of scientific articles and books by authors who contributed to this study. One of these authors is Antonio Candido (2006), who had great value with his works, which helped to make the relations between literature and society, and also about the importance of literary criticism that opines and analyzes the internal data of the work to later relate to social enviroment. The author Maria Ângela D`Incao (2004) contributed to show the life of rich and bourgeois women in the 19th century, on the role of women to be good mothers and wives who care for children and the home. The other authors, Borges (2012), Drummond (2014), Aguiar and Costa (2011), helped with their ideas about the novel, and the lives of the characters, especially their attitudes. We conclude with this article, that the author criticizes marriage for convenience and also the romantic education of women.
